Eliseu Linhares's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Hílton Magalhães firmly grabbed it by the left post. Botinho FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gilson Nogueira in the 8th minute. After 11 played minutes Xurupita FC got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Meirelles. Gilson Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Hílton Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Botinho FC. Through an outstanding action, after 17 minutes, Hílton Magalhães successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Hílton Magalhães made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eliseu Linhares in the 20th minute. Hílton Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernardinho Penha in the 23rd minute of the match. Hílton Costa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bernardinho Penha went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 31 minutes into the game, Xurupita FC's Eliseu Linhares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hílton Magalhães made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. When Sebastião Barros came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Xurupita FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sebastião Barros couldn't finish the play. Belmiro Paraíba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hílton Magalhães having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eliseu Linhares got free with Hílton Magalhães in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bernardinho Penha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Marcus Meirelles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Xurupita FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Botinho FC the free kick. After 52 played minutes Xurupita FC got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Meirelles. In the 55th minute, Botinho FC's Bernardinho Penha ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hílton Costa. Hílton Costa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. The supporters of Xurupita FC booed when Botinho FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christiano Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Botinho FC's goalkeeper Hílton Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eliseu Linhares in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hílton Magalhães saved Botinho FC from getting behind. Bernardinho Penha got in the 69th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Hílton Costa handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Christiano Rezende's late challenge caught a Xurupita FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christiano Rezende helped the player get up and apologised. In the 70th minute, Christiano Rezende hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute Eliseu Linhares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hílton Magalhães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Bernardinho Penha dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hílton Costa, 2-4. In the 79th minute, Eurico Dante sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Botinho FC's Hílton Magalhães didn't even have to move. Hílton Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseu Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardinho Penhas short, quick shot in the 84thth minute got Hílton Costa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. José Paulo Cardozo hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. After 88 minutes of play, Xurupita FC's Eliseu Linhares made it 3-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hílton Magalhães was left in no man's land by his defense there! Botinho FC's Christiano Rezende got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
