Alvi Verde's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Charles Arantes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rodrigo Ramalho during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Alvi Verde getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Rodrigo Ramalho hit a great ball. Luís Fabiano Lago blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Giovani de Amaral having to make a save. 30 minutes into the match, Portuguesa's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fabiano Lago came free, but Giovani de Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute Alvi Verde were awarded a corner. Murilo Stein went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Murilo Stein almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Portuguesa's Giovani de Amaral did a great save. If Luís Fabiano Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Portuguesa getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Betinho Severo hit a great ball. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Portuguesa were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
