The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Valdemar de Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José do Vale having to interfere. Grêmio 20 Julho's João Adolfo de Andrade managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tião Diniz in the 9 minute of the game. Grêmio 20 Julho's attentive João Adolfo de Andrade managed to snatch the ball when Tião Diniz made a throw-in in the 10th minute of the game. A collision led to SAO JOANENSE FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Angelo Magalhães hit a great ball. If Valdemar de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 22 played minutes SAO JOANENSE FC got a freekick which was hit by Filipe de Amorim. In the 23rd minute, Tião Diniz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valdemar de Amaral kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Jonathan Zanette had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wiliam Matorin. The throw-in from Tião Diniz in the 28th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Grêmio 20 Julho's João Adolfo de Andrade. José do Vale came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Grêmio 20 Julho's Claudinho Toscano. But to his dismay, Claudinho Toscano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The audience was convinced that Valdemar de Amaral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José do Vale was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Tião Diniz made in the 33rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Grêmio 20 Julho's João Adolfo de Andrade. After 34 minutes, Valdemar de Amaral made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. SAO JOANENSE FC's José do Vale tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Valdemar de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute Valdemar de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Tião Diniz in the 45th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Grêmio 20 Julho's João Adolfo de Andrade. Claudinho Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valdemar de Amaral made a kick off. Valdemar de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. José do Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valdemar de Amaral's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 57thth minute, José do Vale skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Valdemar de Amaral sped through SAO JOANENSE FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of José do Vale. Tião Diniz made in the 60th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Pedrinho Lara however managed to control. 62 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Valdemar de Amaral came free, but José do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Grêmio 20 Julho booed when SAO JOANENSE FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tião Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 66 minutes into the game, when Emerson de Azevedo put in a rough tackle. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Grêmio 20 Julho! Claudinho Toscano kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 71stth minute. Though ot was a great shot SAO JOANENSE FC's keeper José do Vale was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. 72 minutes into the match, Téo Pires dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of José do Vale, 1-7. SAO JOANENSE FC's José do Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save SAO JOANENSE FC from getting a goal against them. José do Vale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claudinho Toscano in the 78th minute. Tião Diniz charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tião Diniz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tião Diniz hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Jânio Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Téo Pires hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Téo Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José do Vale was a little too slow when Claudinho Toscano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 88th minute. The score was now 1-8. After 91 minutes, João Adolfo de Andrade mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio 20 Julho and the SAO JOANENSE FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Grêmio 20 Julho getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. João Adolfo de Andrade hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the game, Claudinho Toscano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-9. José do Vale was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Grêmio 20 Julho had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
