Claudinei Leite was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Décio Messias came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Sipo EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Décio Messias couldn't finish the play. In the 25th minute Valdir Arósio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinei Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of GLADIADORES booed when Sipo EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 28 played minutes, GLADIADORES's Deilmison Robben shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Genílson Gaspar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sipo EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cesinha Brasil was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. 59 minutes into the game, Sipo EC's Válbson Souza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claudinei Leite made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. In the 66th match minute, GLADIADORES was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicklas Sjöström to maneuver through the defense.
