Ronaldão Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iker Boruc in the 15th minute of play. Tomé Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Luís Gustavo Prestes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronaldão Souza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Piotr Osikowicz in the 21st minute. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Iker Boruc sped through FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ronaldão Souza. After 46 played minutes FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA got a freekick which was hit by Di Clorius. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Luís Gustavo Prestes made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when João Francisco Barbosa sent off a good shot on target. Piotr Osikowicz scored 3-0 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldão Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 75th minute Iker Boruc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldão Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
