The audience thought a goal was coming when Abel Batista got free with Chiquinho Vasconcelos in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers André Luís Trigo in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ismael Pereira saved Habilirows from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Flávio Siqueira in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chiquinho Vasconcelos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chiquinho Vasconcelos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flávio Siqueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Trigo in the 26th minute of play forced Habilirows's goalkeeper Ismael Pereira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Botafogo AP's José Pedro Coelho got a free kick in the 27th minute. Lucas Vidal struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Chiquinho Vasconcelos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Habilirows. Flávio Siqueira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chiquinho Vasconcelos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Habilirows's goal looked a bit too open when André Luís Trigo came free, but Ismael Pereira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that André Luís Trigo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ismael Pereira was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. The Botafogo AP fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Botafogo AP's André Luís Trigo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

José Pedro Coelho charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Pedro Coelho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 67th match minute, Botafogo AP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Pedro Coelho to maneuver through the defense. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Frank Goiano replaced José Pedro Coelho. The supporters of Habilirows booed when Botafogo AP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Botafogo AP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flávio Siqueira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Botafogo AP's Mané Souza was substituted for Clóvis das Neves. André Luís Trigo kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Botafogo AP's Humberto Maia was substituted for André Luís Trigo. Ismael Pereira stood somewhat misplaced when Humberto Maia came free in front of goal and shot 5-2 to the left of him in the 89 minute. Habilirows's Gil Vargas suffered a sore thigh after 92 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 92 minutes into the game, Clemente Lopes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Botafogo AP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Habilirows the free kick.
