In the 3rd match minute, Barões F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulysses Paiva to maneuver through the defense. Capibaribe Stars were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after Barões F. C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Danilo Teixeira took the corner. Danilo Teixeira made a great header on Capibaribe Stars's corner, it was just that Barões F. C.'s Álvaro Costa managed to reach the ball for a save. Álvaro Costa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raimundo Camargo's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. After 12 played minutes Barões F. Beto Hoffmann's late challenge caught a Capibaribe Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manfredo de Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulysses Paiva in the 20th minute of the match. Barões F. C.'s Amadeu Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Álvaro Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raimundo Camargo in the 30th minute of play. Raimundo Camargo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Álvaro Costa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Raimundo Camargo got in the 38th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Álvaro Costa handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Pedro Luiz Figueiredo took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Álvaro Costa. Álvaro Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Pedro Luiz Figueiredo struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Álvaro Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Capibaribe Stars. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ulysses Paiva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Pedro Luiz Figueiredo hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Capibaribe Stars's Fabinho Vasconcelos got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Raimundo Camargo hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Danilo Teixeira hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raimundo Camargo in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Álvaro Costa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Capibaribe Stars booed when Barões F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flávio Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Raimundo Camargo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álvaro Costa was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. The supporters of Barões F. C. booed when Capibaribe Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luiz Figueiredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute Raimundo Camargo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Costa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Barões F. C. getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Wilton Trancoso hit a great ball. In the 87th minute, Pedro Luiz Figueiredo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Álvaro Costa was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Álvaro Costa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raimundo Camargo's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Barões F. C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Capibaribe Stars.
