Horácio Netto might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilvan Sanches. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Horácio Netto ran back to his position shaking his head. Renascer's Gilvan Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dé Paiva in the 15th minute of play. Gilvan Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chiquinho Sergipano in the 16th minute of play. In the 19th minute Horácio Netto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilvan Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Renascer defense, Benjamim Medeiros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilvan Sanches. The Renascer fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilvan Sanches should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Chiquinho Sergipano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mestre GG's supporters rose to their feet, but Chiquinho Sergipano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilvan Sanches breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gilvan Sanches was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Chiquinho Sergipano showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-0 in the 48 minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
