The ADM Taquaras fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when ADM Taquaras's Dorival Fontes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tostão Cardoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Madureira, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to ADM Taquaras getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Zé Madureira hit a great ball. Rubinho Abreu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcos Figueiredo in the 20th minute. In the 21st match minute, ADM Taquaras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 22 minutes, Wiliam Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montesclarense E.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Wiliam Damião was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dorival Fontes in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tostão Cardoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With an all-out effort, Montesclarense E.C.'s Rubinho Abreu threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wiliam Damião, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Montesclarense E.C.'s Adrianinho Freitas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Doni dos Santos, made in the 33rd minute of the game. Marcos Figueiredo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Rubinho Abreu made a huge save. Fellipe dos Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Vitório Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dorival Fontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tostão Cardoso having to interfere. Dorival Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 48th minute, ADM Taquaras's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Wiliam Damião fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After the first half ADM Taquaras were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Duarte Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Delfim Maia charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Delfim Maia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 55th match minute, ADM Taquaras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delfim Maia to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Montesclarense E.C. booed when ADM Taquaras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodriguinho da Mata didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Corrêa's late challenge caught a Montesclarense E.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Corrêa helped the player get up and apologised. After 78 played minutes ADM Taquaras got a freekick which was hit by João Corrêa. Doni dos Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Fellipe dos Santos scored 1-1 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rubinho Abreu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Montesclarense E.C. were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
