But to his dismay, Carlinhos Velasco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Carlinhos Velasco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlinhos Velasco in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wellington Montenegro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th minute, Saul Francho made a precise shot to the right of Wellington Montenegro. Joinville Esporte Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Wellington Montenegro was a little too slow when Carlinhos Velasco got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 0-5. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tadeu Bastos couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlinhos Velasco got free with Wellington Montenegro in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
