Ricardo Rocha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nelson Rocha. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A hard shot 12 in the game by Régis Coutinho from a close distance when the talented Nelson Rocha managed to make a qualified save. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's players were relieved. Guilherme Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marquinhos da Costa in the 15th minute of play. Gilson Souza hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Marquinhos da Costa got a free kick in the 18th minute. FC St. Pauli's Régis Coutinho was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 19th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 22nd minute, Oséias Sergipano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's zone, Régis Coutinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelson Rocha came out of the goal and Régis Coutinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 29 minutes into the game, Régis Coutinho lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Nelson Rocha. Guilherme Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Róbson Simões in the 33rd minute of the match. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Gildo Miranda got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, FC St. Pauli's goal looked a bit too open when Marquinhos da Costa came free, but Guilherme Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Benjamin Arce fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's protests and gave Benjamin Arce a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Benjamin Arce got a free kick in the 45th minute. Régis Coutinhos short, quick shot in the 48thth minute got Nelson Rocha to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marquinhos da Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Régis Coutinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Régis Coutinho in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Marquinhos da Costa got his second yellow card of the match in the 58th minute. The referee ordered Marquinhos da Costa off the ground. After a rather tough play, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Marquinhos da Costa got a free kick in the 59th minute. Nelson Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Régis Coutinho in the 60th minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Régis Coutinho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nelson Rocha. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Régis Coutinho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. FC St. Pauli's Guilherme Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save FC St. Pauli from getting a goal against them. Nelson Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Moreno in the 76th minute of play. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Nelson Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oséias Sergipano in the 77th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FC St. Pauli's zone, Róbson Simões stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guilherme Mendonça came out of the goal and Róbson Simões tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Régis Coutinho in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Rocha saved Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ from getting behind. When FC St. Pauli's Régis Coutinho in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalie prevented a goal. 94 minutes into the match, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goal looked a bit too open when Régis Coutinho came free, but Nelson Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guilherme Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Róbson Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
