The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Irreal Madrid's attentive Matías de Castro managed to snatch the ball when Frederico Romero made a throw-in in the 4th minute of the game. After 5 minutes, Kiko Senna made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Rockets's Geraldo Queiroz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edu Mangueira during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rockets getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Edu Mangueira hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Kiko Senna's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geraldo Queiroz was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Edson Prestes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geraldo Queiroz having to make a save. Doriva Medeiros made in the 18th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Frederico Romero however managed to control. Joélson Melo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Allan Barbosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Luiz Eduardo Pimenta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Allan Barbosa made a huge save. Geraldo Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kiko Senna in the 34th minute of play. In the 38th minute Kiko Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geraldo Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Kiko Senna made a precise shot to the right of Geraldo Queiroz. Rockets's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Irreal Madrid's Diogo Matos quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Doriva Medeiros, made in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half Irreal Madrid were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Geraldo Queiroz was a little too slow when Kiko Senna got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 53rd minute. The score was now 0-3. Allan Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Eduardo Pimenta in the 62nd minute of play. In the 70th minute, Eugênio Goiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doriva Medeiros's late challenge caught a Irreal Madrid's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Doriva Medeiros helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Rockets getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Doriva Medeiros hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Rockets defense, Kiko Senna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Geraldo Queiroz. The Rockets fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Geraldo Queiroz should have stopped the shot. When Irreal Madrid's Kiko Senna in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rockets's goalie prevented a goal. Kiko Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geraldo Queiroz having to interfere. In the 85th match minute, Irreal Madrid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Macedo to maneuver through the defense. Geraldo Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kiko Senna in the 90th minute of the match. The supporters of Rockets booed when Irreal Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugênio Goiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joélson Melo struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Allan Barbosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rockets.
