The supporters of Independente FC booed when Júbilo Iwata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elenko Hrulev didn't get a good kick on the ball. Raí Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Giovanni Pena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute Luiz Marquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Júbilo Iwata's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nilson Duarte was slow to take the kick. During this time Independente FC's players had a chance to rest. Cahyo Rantung was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 16 minutes into the match, Júbilo Iwata's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Marquez came free, but Giovanni Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Donato Vargas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nando Sena. Independente FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Donato Vargas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Júbilo Iwata's Décio Paraibano got a free kick in the 22nd minute. The referee ignored Independente FC's protests and gave Fausto Mattos a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Fausto Mattos got a free kick in the 41st minute. Rafinha Velasco was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 42nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Donato Vargas to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raí Prestes in the 56th minute of play forced Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute Luiz Marquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raí Prestes in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Giovanni Pena saved Júbilo Iwata from getting behind. A collision led to Independente FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Edinho Secco hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Donato Vargas got free with Nando Sena in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Giovanni Pena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilson Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, Marcel Lira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Júbilo Iwata's Giovanni Pena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Marquez in the 75th minute of play. Giovanni Pena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raí Prestes in the 77th minute of play. When Fausto Mattos was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 79 minutes had been played. Fausto Mattos kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Júbilo Iwata's Elenko Hrulev shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 81st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Nando Sena but with some difficulty. Júbilo Iwata's Marcel Lira was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 86th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Independente FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Júbilo Iwata for a fine match.
