The supporters of São Paulo F.C. booed when Callegari was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inácio Pires's late challenge caught a Callegari's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Inácio Pires helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th match minute, São Paulo F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dito de Senna to maneuver through the defense. Pedro Paulo de Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guto Tinoco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, São Paulo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Breno Novaes came free, but Pedro Paulo de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Breno Novaes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Callegari's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
