If Zézinho Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 17th minute Gustavo Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Branco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benedito Silveira was a little too slow when Afonsinho Donatello got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 1-2. Benedito Silveira made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Afonsinho Donatello sent off a good shot on target. Gustavo Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mazinho Baptista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kléber Barreto hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mazinho Baptista in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gustavo Branco saved Lindner F.C from getting behind. Gustavo Branco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mazinho Baptista's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. 36 minutes into the match, Lindner F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Gustavo Zonta came free, but Gustavo Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Mazinho Baptista's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gustavo Branco was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Gustavo Zonta's late challenge caught a Lindner F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustavo Zonta helped the player get up and apologised. After 42 played minutes Wellington Phoenix got a freekick which was hit by Gustavo Zonta. Mazinho Baptista struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Gustavo Branco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wellington Phoenix.

The wind increased when Mazinho Baptista made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Lindner F.C's Dedê Meireles got a free kick in the 51st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mazinho Baptista in the 52nd minute of play forced Lindner F.C's goalkeeper Gustavo Branco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Lindner F.C defense, Mazinho Baptista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gustavo Branco. The Lindner F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gustavo Branco should have stopped the shot. In the 56th minute, one of Wellington Phoenix:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Wellington Phoenix. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Gustavo Branco successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Beto Arósio kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Wellington Phoenix made a substitution. Paulo Castro replaced Juarês Teixeira. In the 66th match minute, Lindner F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beto Arósio to maneuver through the defense. Gustavo Branco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Baptista in the 68th minute of play. Gustavo Branco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mazinho Baptista's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute, Kléber Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benedito Silveira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
