In the 10th minute, Juarês Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benedito Silveira came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Velho Barreiro FC's Armandinho Teixeira. But to his dismay, Armandinho Teixeira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Virgílio Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the game, Bebeto Xavier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Velho Barreiro FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wellington Phoenix the free kick. Bebeto Xavier hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute Amadeu Maranhense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Carlos Cardoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Velho Barreiro FC's Wilton Damião got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Velho Barreiro FC's José Carlos Cardoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Zonta in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Velho Barreiro FC's Christian Messias ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benedito Silveira. Benedito Silveira yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Zonta in the 32nd minute of play forced Velho Barreiro FC's goalkeeper José Carlos Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Amadeu Maranhense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Carlos Cardoso. Velho Barreiro FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amadeu Maranhense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. José Carlos Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu Maranhense in the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mazinho Baptista in the 44th minute of play forced Velho Barreiro FC's goalkeeper José Carlos Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Virgílio Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Velho Barreiro FC's Elano Vander got a free kick in the 47th minute. Dé Rossi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 48th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for José Carlos Cardoso. Velho Barreiro FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Christian Messias was the one to do the kick off. Mazinho Baptista's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 54thth minute, José Carlos Cardoso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Amadeu Maranhense charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amadeu Maranhense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Velho Barreiro FC booed when Wellington Phoenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeu Maranhense didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute Bebeto Xavier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedito Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game. One of Wellington Phoenix:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Velho Barreiro FC:s goal. Elano Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Silveira having to interfere. Nando Hermes charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nando Hermes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Nando Hermes got a free kick in the 78th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Mazinho Baptista dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of José Carlos Cardoso, 3-2. José Carlos Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu Maranhense in the 98th minute of the match. Velho Barreiro FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
