The referee ignored Excelência de Luxe's protests and gave Wilson de Godoi a yellow card for diving instead. After 7 played minutes Excelência de Luxe got a freekick which was hit by Wilson de Godoi. Anselmo da Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseu França in the 12th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Gilson Donatello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Paulo Zonta. Excelência de Luxe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilson Donatello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Caetano Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 29 minutes into the match, S S Palestra Italia's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseu França came free, but Anselmo da Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute, S S Palestra Italia's José Vítor Loureiro seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed José Vítor Loureiro the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of S S Palestra Italia protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and José Vítor Loureiro had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of Excelência de Luxe booed when S S Palestra Italia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Elder Zanette kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Wilson de Godoi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anselmo da Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Excelência de Luxe's zone, Mané Donatello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Paulo Zonta came out of the goal and Mané Donatello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Paulo Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mané Donatello, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Gilson Donatello sped through Excelência de Luxe's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of João Paulo Zonta. After 65 played minutes S S Palestra Italia got a freekick which was hit by Lauro Cosme. S S Palestra Italia's Anselmo da Rocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save S S Palestra Italia from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renan Loyola in the 72nd minute of play forced Excelência de Luxe's goalkeeper João Paulo Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The match ended in a win for S S Palestra Italia.
