The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, EDI MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Moreira came free, but Yuri Lago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yuri Lago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Alvarenga, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Hortêncio Passos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ernesto Montenegro. Cambotinha EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hortêncio Passos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, EDI MZB's Caco Mota got a free kick in the 14th minute. A collision led to Cambotinha EC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Celso Tepedino hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hortêncio Passos in the 16th minute of play forced Cambotinha EC's goalkeeper Ernesto Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ernesto Montenegro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hortêncio Passos went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Cambotinha EC's Nicolas Alvarenga got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 24th match minute, Cambotinha EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Tepedino to maneuver through the defense. Rubinho Costa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ernesto Montenegro. Cambotinha EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ernesto Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hortêncio Passos in the 26th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match EDI MZB got a corner. Cambotinha EC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rubinho Costa ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 37 played minutes EDI MZB got a freekick which was hit by Hortêncio Passos. When Gustavo Souza came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the EDI MZB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustavo Souza couldn't finish the play. Caco Mota scored 0-5 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ernesto Montenegro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cambotinha EC's Ernesto Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hortêncio Passos in the 43rd minute of play. Nicolas Alvarenga hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hortêncio Passos in the 47th minute of play forced Cambotinha EC's goalkeeper Ernesto Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

The wind increased when Hortêncio Passos made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hortêncio Passos got free with Ernesto Montenegro in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 52nd minute Gustavo Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes in the game, Marcel Moreira dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 60 minutes into the game, Nicolas Alvarenga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cambotinha EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EDI MZB the free kick. In the 60th minute, Nicolas Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernesto Montenegro made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Hortêncio Passos sent off a good shot on target. Cambotinha EC's Ernesto Montenegro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Cambotinha EC from getting a goal against them. Ernesto Montenegro was out of position in the 63 minute of play, and Caco Mota capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Caco Mota really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7. If Caco Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ernesto Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Souza in the 70th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Gustavo Souza took a quick shot and it went in 0-9 without a chance for Ernesto Montenegro to make any attempt to save it. Luizinho de Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. EDI MZB made a substitution. Claudinei Albuquerque replaced Sidnei Fernandez. After 87 played minutes Cambotinha EC got a freekick which was hit by Luizinho de Queiroz. In the 92nd minute, EDI MZB's Gustavo Souza dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-10. When Marcel Moreira fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cambotinha EC's protests and gave Marcel Moreira a yellow card for diving instead. Hortêncio Passoss short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Ernesto Montenegro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The EDI MZB players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
