Southern Thrashers's Jordon Day played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reese Lambourne in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Jenkins Bielski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordon Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Southern Thrashers's Jordon Day got control of the ball when Darian Carlisle tried to sneak it across the goal line. Southern Thrashers's Conner Mclatchey got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute Reese Lambourne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordon Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Abbotsford FC booed when Southern Thrashers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christopher Boylin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastián Szymanski struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Jordon Day didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Abbotsford FC. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of Abbotsford FC booed when Southern Thrashers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irwin Mcjunkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastián Szymanski came free in the 57th minute and tried to tip the ball over Jordon Day, but to the joy of Southern Thrashers's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. Jordon Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jenkins Bielski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jordon Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jenkins Bielski, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the game, Jeremy Mcjunkins threw the ball into play from the sideline. Southern Thrashers's Irwin Mcjunkins quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 61 played minutes Abbotsford FC got a freekick which was hit by Alex Dollimore. In the 64th minute Darian Carlisle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordon Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd match minute, Southern Thrashers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jervis Haslem to maneuver through the defense. Irwin Mcjunkins charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Irwin Mcjunkins the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 97 minutes, Nicholas Hanslow mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Southern Thrashers and the Abbotsford FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
