AC Roma's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cesate the free kick. In the 9th match minute, AC Roma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelo Marcelli to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the match, Cesate's goal looked a bit too open when Demetrio Vespa came free, but Bruno Carciofo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ennio Grasso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Anselmo Cirulli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Cerasoli in the 31st minute of play forced Cesate's goalkeeper Bruno Carciofo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Cesate's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Cerasoli came free, but Bruno Carciofo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Eraldo Di Matteo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anselmo Cirulli was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Demetrio Vespa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Cesate defense, Antonio Cerasoli kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bruno Carciofo. The Cesate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bruno Carciofo should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Cesate getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Adriano Di Marco hit a great ball. After 61 minutes Cesate's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Angelo Marcelli who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on AC Roma's corner Angelo Marcelli fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bruno Carciofo quite easily take care of the ball. In the 63rd minute, Demetrio Borrelli got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 64th minute of the match, Demetrio Vespa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bruno Carciofo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Aurelio Barresi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bruno Carciofo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. With a little luck, Cesate's Bruno Carciofo got control of the ball when Demetrio Vespa tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Ennio Grasso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cesate's supporters rose to their feet, but Ennio Grasso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anselmo Cirulli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Demetrio Borrelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Cirulli having to interfere. 81 minutes into the game, Cesate's Ennio Grasso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Anselmo Cirulli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Cesate's defense didn't have a chance, in the 85th minute, when Antonio Cerasoli scored to the left of an out of position Bruno Carciofo, making the score, 1-2. 94 minutes into the match, Cesate's goal looked a bit too open when Antonio Cerasoli came free, but Bruno Carciofo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to AC Roma getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Emilio Di Fazio hit a great ball. The AC Roma supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AC Roma would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
