The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Juan Pedro Owen came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by CDU Católica's Jonathan Oyarzabal. But to his dismay, Jonathan Oyarzabal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 9 minutes, Jose Ramon Delpiano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CDU Católica and the CRUZ DEL SUR players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to CDU Católica getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Jose Ramon Delpiano hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Vicente Tolhauzsen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Giancarlo Beltrán was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. When Vicente Tolhauzsen came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the CRUZ DEL SUR fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicente Tolhauzsen couldn't finish the play. Juan Pedro Owen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jose Ramon Delpiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ireno Helo made in the 19th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by CRUZ DEL SUR's Vicente Tolhauzsen. The supporters of CDU Católica booed when CRUZ DEL SUR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xulián Artaño didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vicente Tolhauzsen hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute, Filiberto Arbildo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in CDU Católica's zone, Xulián Artaño stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giancarlo Beltrán came out of the goal and Xulián Artaño tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 31 minutes into the match, CRUZ DEL SUR's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Oyarzabal came free, but Juan Pedro Owen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manuel Akanji hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Zebulón Musalem was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 34th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 37th match minute, CDU Católica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Ramon Delpiano to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 38 minutes, Vicente Tolhauzsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CRUZ DEL SUR's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vicente Tolhauzsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute Giancarlo Cervantes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Pedro Owen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to CDU Católica getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Jose Ramon Delpiano hit a great ball. CDU Católica's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Zebulón Musalem in the 49th minute. The corner ended in Zebulón Musalem almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen did a great save.

The crowd rose to their feet as CDU Católica's Jonathan Oyarzabal slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Juan Pedro Owen. That made the score 0-2 after 53 minutes of play. After 62 played minutes CRUZ DEL SUR got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Akanji. After a defensive mix-up in CRUZ DEL SUR's zone, Jonathan Oyarzabal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juan Pedro Owen came out of the goal and Jonathan Oyarzabal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 69th minute, Jose Ramon Delpiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xulián Artaño in the 72nd minute of play forced CDU Católica's goalkeeper Giancarlo Beltrán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to CRUZ DEL SUR getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Vicente Tolhauzsen hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jose Ramon Delpiano in the 80th minute of play forced CRUZ DEL SUR's goalkeeper Juan Pedro Owen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Podador Arraño made in the 88th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Vicente Tolhauzsen immediately put the ball in play. Jose Ramon Delpiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Juan Pedro Owen made a huge save. After a rather tough play, CRUZ DEL SUR's Manuel Akanji got a free kick in the 96th minute. Zebulón Musalem recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. CDU Católica's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
