The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Simón Iturbe kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chiquito Escalante got free with Juan Pedro Owen in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Carlos José Vega had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save CRUZ DEL SUR from getting a goal against them. When Chiquito Escalante came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Zorros del Desierto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chiquito Escalante couldn't finish the play. Carlos José Vega recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Zorros del Desierto's goal looked a bit too open when Anacleto Tirado came free, but Radomil Bucyki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anacleto Tirado in the 24th minute of play forced Zorros del Desierto's goalkeeper Radomil Bucyki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zorros del Desierto's Radomil Bucyki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan María Maeztu in the 27th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos José Vega in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juan Pedro Owen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Zorros del Desierto's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Carlos José Vega in the 30th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos José Vega in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juan Pedro Owen saved CRUZ DEL SUR from getting behind. Juan Pedro Owen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos José Vega in the 36th minute of play. CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos José Vega in the 40th minute of play. In the 44th match minute, CRUZ DEL SUR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Akanji to maneuver through the defense. CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save CRUZ DEL SUR from getting a goal against them. Xulián Artaño hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos José Vega to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Carlos José Vega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Pedro Owen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the game, Zorros del Desierto's Carlos José Vega nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Juan Pedro Owen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After some careless play in the CRUZ DEL SUR defense, Cristian Insaurralde kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juan Pedro Owen. The CRUZ DEL SUR fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juan Pedro Owen should have stopped the shot. When Xulián Artaño fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CRUZ DEL SUR's protests and gave Xulián Artaño a yellow card for diving instead. In the 61st minute, Xulián Artaño hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Zorros del Desierto getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Chiquito Escalante hit a great ball. Juan Pedro Owen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos José Vega in the 63rd minute of the match. Radomil Bucyki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Ignacio Berguecio, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Insaurralde in the 66th minute of play forced CRUZ DEL SUR's goalkeeper Juan Pedro Owen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute, Carlos José Vega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of CRUZ DEL SUR booed when Zorros del Desierto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simón Villalta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan María Maeztu was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 80th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jean Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Juan Pedro Owen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jean Cruz came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Zorros del Desierto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Cruz couldn't finish the play. Juan Pedro Owen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Insaurralde went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. If Jean Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Pedro Owen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos José Vega in the 92nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Marc Pedraza took a quick shot and it went in 5-1 without a chance for Radomil Bucyki to make any attempt to save it. Zorros del Desierto were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of CRUZ DEL SUR for a fine match.
