In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Anderlecht Huachipato's goalkeeper Serbülent Baysan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marcelo Salas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Resulhan İsmihan in the 42nd minute of play forced FC Anderlecht Huachipato's goalkeeper Serbülent Baysan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Marcelo Salas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcelo Salas to make the kick off. Marcelo Salas scored 0-1 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serbülent Baysan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcelo Salas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Serbülent Baysan made a huge save. Ilan Tissandier made in the 59th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Baumar Ontanilla immediately put the ball in play. Serbülent Baysan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Salas in the 61st minute of the match. Serbülent Baysan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcelo Salas went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Serbülent Baysan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Serbülent Baysan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Salas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 86 minutes into the match, FC Anderlecht Huachipato's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Salas came free, but Serbülent Baysan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karem Ghadhanfer made in the 88th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Victorio Monte. After a defensive mix-up in FC Anderlecht Huachipato's zone, Remigio Jungejohan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serbülent Baysan came out of the goal and Remigio Jungejohan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute, Marcelo Salas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Serbülent Baysan. The goal made the score 0-4.
