PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Randall Rodríguez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Carneiro in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th match minute, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Perdomo to maneuver through the defense. 40 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goal looked a bit too open when Gonzalo Carneiro came free, but Randall Rodríguez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Nacional booed when PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique De Los Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When Oscar Macho fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's protests and gave Oscar Macho a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Oscar Macho hit a great ball. Gonzalo Carneiro took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Randall Rodríguez. Randall Rodríguez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Gonzalo Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nacional's Gonzalo Carneiro got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's Nelson Gutiérrez was substituted for Natal Sainz. Gonzalo Carneiro struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Randall Rodríguez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nacional. After 66 played minutes PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON got a freekick which was hit by Enrique De Los Santos. After a defensive mix-up in PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's zone, Gonzalo Carneiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Randall Rodríguez came out of the goal and Gonzalo Carneiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luciano Inverso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th minute, Tarcísio Caetano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee felt a red card was in order, 78 minutes into the game, when Joey Real put in a rough tackle. 78 minutes into the game, one of Nacional:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When Luciano Inverso came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Nacional fans jumped to their feet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Carneiro in the 92nd minute of play forced PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's goalkeeper Randall Rodríguez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luciano Inverso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Randall Rodríguez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Nacional fully deserved thier win.
