Spectators: 195 (Terracing: 147, Seating: 45, VIP seats: 3) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lutz Ertel started the match with the kick off. 9 minutes into the game, Batho König was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hertha 1969 the free kick. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Batho König got a free kick in the 9th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lutz Ertel in the 12th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goalkeeper Sönke Odenwälder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roger Dohmen scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alf Kleinert, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sönke Odenwälder made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Andi Godescheid sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th minute, Pepe Kißling hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alf Kleinert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruce Pesch in the 27th minute of play. Alf Kleinert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Osterhagen, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Alf Kleinert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruce Pesch in the 32nd minute of the match. Alf Kleinert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Dohmen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Hertha 1969's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Maximilian Stößlein took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Maximilian Stößlein got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alf Kleinert quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Bruce Pesch got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruce Pesch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sönke Odenwälder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karsten Wolsch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nico Bell kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Patrick Osterhagen got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Patrick Osterhagen took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alf Kleinert. Alf Kleinert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The audience was convinced that Heimko Schober's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alf Kleinert was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Bruce Pesch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Alf Kleinert made a huge save. In the 79th minute, one of Hertha 1969:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Hertha 1969. In the 83rd minute there was a penalty for SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.. Bruce Pesch stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alf Kleinert. 2-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Heimko Schober in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alf Kleinert saved Hertha 1969 from getting behind. Hertha 1969's Alf Kleinert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heimko Schober in the 97th minute of play. The Hertha 1969 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s performance. The match ended with a win for SC Freiburg 1904 e.V..
