Ralph Breddermann lost his temper 16 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. A collision led to FC Hamburg getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Ralph Breddermann hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hamburg's zone, Niklas Böhm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Engelbert Heidemann came out of the goal and Niklas Böhm tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maiko Kressl's late challenge caught a FC 08 Brühl's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Damir Heuchel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The FC 08 Brühl fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when FC 08 Brühl's Kilian Böhme looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Engelbert Heidemann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Irvin Wulz in the 37th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Johann Emmerich made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, FC Hamburg's goal looked a bit too open when Kilian Böhme came free, but Engelbert Heidemann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But to his dismay, Irvin Wulz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Engelbert Heidemann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Schliemann in the 91st minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC 08 Brühl fully deserved thier win.
