Alexander Strzelczyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andreas Beier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 4 minutes into the match, Kassian Rinke notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Blau Weiß Sauerland's Merten Schütz. Merten Schütz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 12th minute, Rainder Just hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 16 minutes into the match, Blau Weiß Sauerland's goal looked a bit too open when Balder Heintges came free, but Merten Schütz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Blau Weiß Sauerland fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Blau Weiß Sauerland's Günther Josef looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of SSV Ulm 1846 booed when Blau Weiß Sauerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Bergermann didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute Kassian Rinke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Merten Schütz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andreas Beier during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Blau Weiß Sauerland's Andreas Beier got a free kick in the 35th minute. Merten Schütz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ingolf Riechel in the 35th minute of the match. In the 39th minute Jens Müller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Merten Schütz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Günther Josef to strike the kick off in the second half. Alexander Strzelczyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Günther Josef, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Merten Schütz had great luck who in the 54thth minute grab hold of the ball when Kassian Rinke from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. SSV Ulm 1846's Alexander Strzelczyk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andreas Beier in the 56th minute of play. Günther Josef took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alexander Strzelczyk. Alexander Strzelczyk dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Alexander Strzelczyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andreas Beier, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. When Wolfgang Burgmeier came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Blau Weiß Sauerland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wolfgang Burgmeier couldn't finish the play. In the 71st match minute, SSV Ulm 1846 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kassian Rinke to maneuver through the defense. SSV Ulm 1846's Veit Thurow was substituted for Leon Schwemer. A collision led to Blau Weiß Sauerland getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Matthew Bergermann hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Andreas Beier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Ingolf Riechel managed to get in a good position for a shot. SSV Ulm 1846's supporters rose to their feet, but Ingolf Riechel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Merten Schütz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Florian Wirtz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merten Schütz having to interfere. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Blau Weiß Sauerland! When the match had been going on for 94 minutes, SSV Ulm 1846's Constantin Brenner got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Merten Schütz. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SSV Ulm 1846 walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
