The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aurelian Mihuleac made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Călin Barbosu in the 3rd minute of play. Petrică Tărău took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marius Isaia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 9th minute Maxim Gherghescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petrică Tărău saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maxim Gherghescu took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Petrică Tărău. Petrică Tărău dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Călin Barbosu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Maxim Gherghescu took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Petrică Tărău. Petrică Tărău dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 28 minutes into the match, Raureni Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Cozac came free, but Petrică Tărău reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maxim Gherghescu in the 33rd minute of play forced Raureni Academy's goalkeeper Petrică Tărău to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Raureni Academy's Iustin Hănescu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Iustin Hănescu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Raureni Academy protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Iustin Hănescu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 34th minute, one of Raureni Academy:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Raureni Academy. In the 36th minute there was a penalty for F.C.DrobetA-Știința-. Marius Isaia stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Petrică Tărău. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Călin Barbosu in the 45th minute of play forced F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s goalkeeper Aurelian Mihuleac to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s Aurelian Mihuleac proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save F.C.DrobetA-Știința- from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Maxim Gherghescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Adrian Cozac received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Petrică Tărău came out and tried to block the shot, but Adrian Cozac slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 55th minute. Raureni Academy's Petrică Tărău played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maxim Gherghescu in the 62nd minute of play. Petrică Tărău made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Cozac in the 64th minute of play. The supporters of F.C.DrobetA-Știința- booed when Raureni Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gheorghe Bobariu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurelian Mihuleac came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Raureni Academy's Gheorghe Bobariu. But to his dismay, Gheorghe Bobariu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. Raureni Academy's Petrică Tărău proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Raureni Academy from getting a goal against them. In the 74th minute, F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s Maxim Gherghescu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-5. Aurelian Mihuleac showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Călin Barbosu, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute.
