The supporters of Stiinta-Univ. booed when Carpathian Wolves was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ion Berevoescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Petre Babarada fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carpathian Wolves's protests and gave Petre Babarada a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th minute, Petre Babarada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 12 minutes into the match, Carpathian Wolves's goal looked a bit too open when Dorel Codin came free, but Ionică Alb reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Aristide Pupăzan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ionică Alb. Carpathian Wolves's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aristide Pupăzan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 22 minutes into the match, Ovidiu Borza notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Carpathian Wolves's Ionică Alb. Ionică Alb was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Stiinta-Univ. getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Ovidiu Borza hit a great ball. If Ovidiu Borza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Irinel Itoafă charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Irinel Itoafă the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 35 minutes of play, Stiinta-Univ.'s Aristide Pupăzan made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ionică Alb was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ionică Alb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ovidiu Borza, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. When Sabin Ciomag fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carpathian Wolves's protests and gave Sabin Ciomag a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute, Dorel Codin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ionică Alb was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Ionică Alb stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ovidiu Borza's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. In the 53rdth minute of the game Dorel Codin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Carpathian Wolves's Ionică Alb was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Stiinta-Univ.'s Aristide Pupăzan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ionică Alb. That made the score 0-5 after 55 minutes of play. Ionică Alb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorel Codin, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Stiinta-Univ.'s Aristide Pupăzan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ionică Alb. That made the score 0-6 after 62 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Stiinta-Univ.'s Horaţiu Corduneanu got a free kick in the 65th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gigel Urduban came free, but Edgar Coposu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gigel Urduban during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 69 played minutes Carpathian Wolves got a freekick which was hit by Gigel Urduban. Petre Babarada kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Ionică Alb made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Ovidiu Borza sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ovidiu Borza got free with Ionică Alb in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dorel Codin took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ionică Alb. Ionică Alb dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. Dorel Codin was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 81st minute. Stiinta-Univ.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ovidiu Borza who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Ionică Alb when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ionică Alb took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorel Codin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, Carpathian Wolves's goalkeeper Ionică Alb had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ovidiu Borza. After 84 minutes, Nicu Steriopol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carpathian Wolves and the Stiinta-Univ. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Carpathian Wolves's Nicu Steriopol got a free kick in the 84th minute. Ionică Alb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorel Codin in the 87th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the game, Traian Lupescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stiinta-Univ.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carpathian Wolves the free kick. If Constantin Hidișan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Stiinta-Univ.'s zone, Petre Babarada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Coposu came out of the goal and Petre Babarada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
