After 9 played minutes Stiinta-Univ. got a freekick which was hit by Dorel Codin. With a little luck, Florilor United's Gigel Diaconescu got control of the ball when Aristide Pupăzan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ovidiu Zbârcea kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Irinel Itoafă in the 13th minute of play forced Florilor United's goalkeeper Gigel Diaconescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stiinta-Univ.'s Edgar Coposu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigore Orășan in the 15th minute of play. Gigel Diaconescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ovidiu Borza in the 18th minute. Ovidiu Borza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Gigel Diaconescu made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dorel Codin was the one to do the kick off.
