The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Costică Pacurar fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Purcaresti CSS's protests and gave Costică Pacurar a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Purcaresti CSS's Costică Pacurar got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 4 minutes into the match, Sepsiszentgyörgy's Ernest Trică broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Ernest Dăianu hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Iustin Videanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Ivan Enceanu made a huge save. In the 13th minute, Iustin Videanu made a precise shot to the right of Ivan Enceanu. Sepsiszentgyörgy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 18th minute, Dinu Aursulesei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manole Iftode fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damian Toader having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Sepsiszentgyörgy's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Iustin Videanu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a rather tough play, Purcaresti CSS's Eduard Glodeanu got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 29th minute Iustin Videanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Enceanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sepsiszentgyörgy's Ivan Enceanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marius Timaru in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th match minute, Sepsiszentgyörgy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stelian Corcoveanu to maneuver through the defense. After 38 played minutes Sepsiszentgyörgy got a freekick which was hit by Manole Iftode. Purcaresti CSS's Damian Toader played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manole Iftode in the 42nd minute of play. In the 44th minute, Stelian Gârniceanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Damian Toader was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Manole Iftode to make the kick off. Vintilă Gheondea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Damian Toader tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 54 minutes into the match, Sepsiszentgyörgy's Manole Iftode sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Damian Toader narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Manole Iftode received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Damian Toader came out and tried to block the shot, but Manole Iftode slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 55th minute. Ivan Spirache hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 62 minutes into the match, Dinu Aursulesei notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Sepsiszentgyörgy's Ivan Enceanu. Ivan Enceanu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ivan Enceanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gigi Drăgan's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. After 69 played minutes Sepsiszentgyörgy got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Spirache. After 71 played minutes Sepsiszentgyörgy got a freekick which was hit by Marian Manolescu. Purcaresti CSS's Marius Timaru got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivan Enceanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinu Aursulesei, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Ernest Trică's late challenge caught a Purcaresti CSS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernest Trică helped the player get up and apologised. In the 77th minute, one of Sepsiszentgyörgy:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sepsiszentgyörgy. Ivan Enceanu had in the 80thth minute some difficulties stopping Aron Teodorescu's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Iustin Videanu charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iustin Videanu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 82nd match minute, Purcaresti CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iustin Videanu to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute Dinu Aursulesei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Enceanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Sepsiszentgyörgy getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Ivan Spirache hit a great ball. After 89 played minutes Sepsiszentgyörgy got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Spirache. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Aron Teodorescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Purcaresti CSS's supporters rose to their feet, but Aron Teodorescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Enceanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ivan Enceanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigi Drăgan in the 95th minute of play. 98 minutes into the match, Gigi Drăgan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Enceanu. Sepsiszentgyörgy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gigi Drăgan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Purcaresti CSS were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sepsiszentgyörgy for a fine match.
