After 6 played minutes Galati Harbour Cats got a freekick which was hit by Petruț Vlăsiu. In the 9th minute, Rareș Ficsinescu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of George Agachi, passed just outside the right post. Octav Mergea who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of George Agachi when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Galati Harbour Cats getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Jo Bag hit a great ball. 2-0 became the score in the 17th minute when Gheorghe Vlăsiu elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 20 minutes, Gheorghe Vlăsiu made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Galati Harbour Cats's George Agachi tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Galati Harbour Cats's Alin Şoltuz got a free kick in the 25th minute. Gică Şuţu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but George Agachi made a huge save. In the 28th match minute, Galati Harbour Cats was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petruț Vlăsiu to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute Gheorghe Vlăsiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Agachi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Galati Harbour Cats's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Gheorghe Vlăsiu 33 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 4-0. George Agachi made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Octav Mergea sent off a good shot on target. Vali Ghețea took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dinu Bălașa. Dinu Bălașa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Corneliu Hurmuzescu struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Dinu Bălașa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galati Harbour Cats. 47 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goal looked a bit too open when Jo Bag came free, but Dinu Bălașa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jo Bag to strike the kick off in the second half. Corneliu Hurmuzescu kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. With a little luck, FC Steaua Pildesti's Dinu Bălașa got control of the ball when Vali Ghețea tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gică Şuţu in the 56th minute of play forced Galati Harbour Cats's goalkeeper George Agachi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Galati Harbour Cats reached it. 70 minutes into the game, FC Steaua Pildesti's Gheorghe Vlăsiu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. George Agachi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. After 79 minutes of play, Galati Harbour Cats's Vali Ghețea made it 5-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dinu Bălașa was left in no man's land by his defense there! George Agachi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octav Mergea, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. George Agachi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octav Mergea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute Gică Şuţu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Agachi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89thth minute of the game Jo Bag who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Steaua Pildesti's Dinu Bălașa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of FC Steaua Pildesti booed when Galati Harbour Cats was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petruț Vlăsiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Steaua Pildesti's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
