The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With 6 minutes on the clock, Víglundur von der Schulenburg commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fotbal Club Vaslui! Fotbal Club Vaslui's Andrei Vârjean got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 15 minutes into the game, MIT's Laurențiu Ene nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gigel Rânceanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurențiu Ene in the 23rd minute of play forced Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper Gigel Rânceanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Fotbal Club Vaslui defense, Laurențiu Ene kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gigel Rânceanu. The Fotbal Club Vaslui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gigel Rânceanu should have stopped the shot. In the 45th minute, one of Fotbal Club Vaslui:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Fotbal Club Vaslui. The referee gave MIT a penalty, 47 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Petre Prislop, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Fotbal Club Vaslui's Gigel Rânceanu. 0-4.

Gigel Rânceanu was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Nichifor Mara capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nichifor Mara really showed his touch with that goal: 0-5. 64 minutes into the match, MIT's goal looked a bit too open when Andrei Vârjean came free, but Leonard Cutean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, MIT's Laurențiu Ene dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurențiu Ene in the 74th minute of play forced Fotbal Club Vaslui's goalkeeper Gigel Rânceanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alex Potra fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fotbal Club Vaslui's protests and gave Alex Potra a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute, MIT's Laurențiu Ene dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. After 91 played minutes MIT got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Fințescu. In the 93rd minute, MIT's Laurențiu Ene ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gigel Rânceanu. Gigel Rânceanu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-8. When Aurel Halipa fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fotbal Club Vaslui's protests and gave Aurel Halipa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th minute, Aurel Halipa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Fotbal Club Vaslui supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching MIT's performance. The match ended with a win for MIT.
