The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Costică Stoleru came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the -BZF- Valea Buzăului fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Costică Stoleru couldn't finish the play. Nistor Ghercioiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristi Hagi, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Nistor Ghercioiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristi Hagi in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 26th minute Cristi Hagi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nistor Ghercioiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vlad Zglobiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vlad Zglobiu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 34th minute. FC Oltul Slatina's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Costică Stoleru got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 41 minutes, Dorel Panin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Oltul Slatina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dorel Panin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the FC Oltul Slatina defense, Horea Neculuță kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nistor Ghercioiu. The FC Oltul Slatina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nistor Ghercioiu should have stopped the shot. Nistor Ghercioiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costică Stoleru in the 46th minute of play. The supporters of -BZF- Valea Buzăului booed when FC Oltul Slatina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorel Panin didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristi Hagi was the one to do the kick off. After 96 played minutes FC Oltul Slatina got a freekick which was hit by Codruț Beniuc. Nistor Ghercioiu made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Cristi Hagi sent off a good shot on target. -BZF- Valea Buzăului played a much better game than FC Oltul Slatina and deserved their victory. The FC Oltul Slatina players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
