Ernest Obreja took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eusebiu Gliga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes in the game, Liviu Cozma fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ernest Obreja having to interfere. Ernest Obreja made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eusebiu Gliga in the 18th minute of play. UFC Veseud's Bogdan Ionițoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costică Mangra in the 22nd minute of play. Bogdan Ionițoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliodor Bărăian, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. When Mihail Răica fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UFC Veseud's protests and gave Mihail Răica a yellow card for diving instead. After 25 played minutes UFC Veseud got a freekick which was hit by Mihail Răica. After 26 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Petrică Bostan. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Eliodor Bărăian managed to get in a good position for a shot. UFC STEAUA's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliodor Bărăian was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bogdan Ionițoiu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 29 played minutes UFC Veseud got a freekick which was hit by Aurelian Boian. After a defensive mix-up in UFC STEAUA's zone, Eusebiu Gliga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernest Obreja came out of the goal and Eusebiu Gliga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cosmin Pumnu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Obreja having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Liviu Cozma in the 34th minute of play forced UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper Ernest Obreja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eusebiu Gliga in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernest Obreja prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bogdan Ionițoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Costică Mangra, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The supporters of UFC Veseud booed when UFC STEAUA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mircea Dersidan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, UFC STEAUA's Petrică Bostan got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 47th minute, Corneliu Hurezeanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bogdan Ionițoiu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Costică Mangra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Basarab Bala kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. 54 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Eusebiu Gliga came free, but Ernest Obreja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, UFC STEAUA's Petrică Bostan got a free kick in the 54th minute. Cosmin Pumnu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Obreja having to interfere. 2-1 became the score in the 58th minute when Eusebiu Gliga elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ernest Obreja took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eusebiu Gliga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71stth minute of the game Eusebiu Gliga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UFC STEAUA's Ernest Obreja was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Eusebiu Gliga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper Ernest Obreja, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Eusebiu Gliga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Bogdan Ionițoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costică Mangra in the 91st minute of the match. UFC Veseud's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
