Steve De kaiser started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jeffrey Rits during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th minute, FC Ouagadougou National's Diego Alaerts dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, De Keikoppers's goal looked a bit too open when Adolf Smedts came free, but Rolf Saelens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolf Saelens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adolf Smedts, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. With his leg Rolf Saelens managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when FC Ouagadougou National's Diego Alaerts fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Yvan Fraes kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. After 26 minutes, Paulus Polspoel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the De Keikoppers and the FC Ouagadougou National players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 26 played minutes De Keikoppers got a freekick which was hit by Paulus Polspoel. Rolf Saelens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolf Smedts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on FC Ouagadougou National's corner Adolf Smedts fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Rolf Saelens quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Alaerts in the 33rd minute of play forced De Keikoppers's goalkeeper Rolf Saelens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 38 played minutes FC Ouagadougou National got a freekick which was hit by Bernt Van Eeckhout. A hard shot 42 in the game by Diego Alaerts from a close distance when the talented Rolf Saelens managed to make a qualified save. De Keikoppers's players were relieved. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diego Alaerts in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolf Saelens saved De Keikoppers from getting behind. Daan Owerckx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steve De kaiser in the 48th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diego Alaerts to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 62nd minute Adolf Smedts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolf Saelens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, De Keikoppers's Bobby Deville got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute of the match Adolf Smedts shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rolf Saelens showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Steve De kaiser got free with Daan Owerckx in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Steve De kaiser's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Daan Owerckx read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. In the 77thth minute of the game Diego Alaerts who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but De Keikoppers's Rolf Saelens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 80th minute Steve De kaiser suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. 80 minutes into the game, Robbe Van Der Taelen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Ouagadougou National's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave De Keikoppers the free kick. In the 81st match minute, FC Ouagadougou National was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robbe Van Der Taelen to maneuver through the defense. When Bartjan Rijmenants fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Ouagadougou National's protests and gave Bartjan Rijmenants a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Ouagadougou National getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Bartjan Rijmenants hit a great ball. FC Ouagadougou National's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Sven Latomme scored to the left of an out of position Daan Owerckx, making the score, 1-2. Rolf Saelens stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Diego Alaerts's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. De Keikoppers walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
