Stan Hagemans was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Lieven Raedemaeckers showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 14 minute of play. In the 18th minute Lieven Raedemaeckers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stan Hagemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Vlimmens kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. VC zoetwater were furious when Edwin Jennes was red carded, 23 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The supporters of YR Mechelen booed when VC zoetwater was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin Jennes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evert-Jan De Roeck struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Stan Hagemans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for YR Mechelen. YR Mechelen's Glenn Imbereghs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reemy Abrams in the 28th minute of play. Lieven Raedemaeckers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stan Hagemans having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Fred Van Hoeyveld left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The VC zoetwater fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Fred Van Hoeyveld hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Arnauld Van Eynde made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in VC zoetwater's zone, Evert-Jan De Roeck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stan Hagemans came out of the goal and Evert-Jan De Roeck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 55th minute Lieven Raedemaeckers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stan Hagemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred Van Hoeyveld kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 56th minute of the match Yanick Verschelde sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Stan Hagemans skillfully saved the ball. In the 57th match minute, VC zoetwater was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robbrecht Caes to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the game, YR Mechelen's Arnauld Van Eynde nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stan Hagemans made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. 63 minutes into the game, Lieven Raedemaeckers cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Stan Hagemans was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 67 minutes into the game, YR Mechelen's Lieven Raedemaeckers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stan Hagemans made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. If Lieven Raedemaeckers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnauld Van Eynde in the 72nd minute of play forced VC zoetwater's goalkeeper Stan Hagemans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stan Hagemans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnauld Van Eynde in the 76th minute of the match. In the 80th minute Arnauld Van Eynde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stan Hagemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 81 minutes, Fred Van Hoeyveld managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VC zoetwater's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Van Hoeyveld was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jos Armentier's late challenge caught a YR Mechelen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jos Armentier helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd match minute, VC zoetwater was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jos Armentier to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute, Lieven Raedemaeckers left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. VC zoetwater's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lieven Raedemaeckers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-1. Lieven Raedemaeckers might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stan Hagemans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lieven Raedemaeckers ran back to his position shaking his head. 92 minutes into the game, YR Mechelen's Arnauld Van Eynde nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stan Hagemans made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-1. VC zoetwater's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because YR Mechelen had won, even though VC zoetwater had held more of the ball.
