If Joris Tijs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Steff Winnepenninck stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf's late challenge caught a Flamenco United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf helped the player get up and apologised. In the 83rd minute, Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joseph Vermeulen hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Genk's Jordi Peten proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Genk from getting a goal against them. The Genk fans cheered their team off the field, for while Flamenco United had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
