Arne Petersson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Karl-Erik Fransson went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Arne Petersson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl-Erik Fransson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arne Petersson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Bäcklin, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. The supporters of Galapagos Islands FC booed when Oldham Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Håning didn't get a good kick on the ball. Torbjörn Stålberg received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Karl-Erik Fransson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute, Oldham Athletic's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Vilgot Kihlberg fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Emanuel Hökkvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arne Petersson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emanuel Hökkvist ran back to his position shaking his head. Emanuel Hökkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 3-3 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Karl-Erik Fransson to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Torbjörn Stålberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
