When Torsten Carlberg fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pihl United's protests and gave Torsten Carlberg a yellow card for diving instead. FC NILS's Thomas Näver was substituted for Evert Ahlerot. In the 5th match minute, Pihl United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Torsten Carlberg to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, FC NILS's Max Skröder got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 10th minute, Daniel Vesterberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adrian Dusett was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 15 played minutes FC NILS got a freekick which was hit by Greger Hedlund. Klas Åberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gunnar Hansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute of the game Rolf Harlén made a throw-in which Kjell-Arne Hellkvist played forward. 22 minutes into the match, Pihl United's Torsten Carlberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Klas Åberg narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Vesterberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 24th minute, Jan Vennerström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Torsten Carlberg struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Klas Åberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pihl United. FC NILS's Klas Åberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gunnar Hansson in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Pihl United's zone, Daniel Vesterberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrian Dusett came out of the goal and Daniel Vesterberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 38 played minutes Pihl United got a freekick which was hit by Billy Göransson. If Daniel Vesterberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute, FC NILS's Daniel Vesterberg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

FC NILS's Klas Åberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save FC NILS from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in FC NILS's zone, Torsten Carlberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Klas Åberg came out of the goal and Torsten Carlberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Zebastian Wenerdahl's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Klas Åberg was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Thomas Näver kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. In the 70th play minute Billy Göransson came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Klas Åberg. 2-1. Torsten Carlberg hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, FC NILS's Jan Vennerström got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 85th minute of the match Tomas Bruse shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Klas Åberg showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Thomas Näver fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC NILS's protests and gave Thomas Näver a yellow card for diving instead. Pihl United's Pål Landin suffered a concussion in the 93rd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 93 minutes, Nils-Eric Johansson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC NILS and the Pihl United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pihl United made a substitution. Sven-Åke Persson replaced Pål Landin. Torsten Carlberg walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Klas Åberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hubert Johansson's shot from short distance in the 99th minute. After a rather tough play, FC NILS's Thomas Näver got a free kick in the 100th minute. Torsten Carlberg shot a long shot in the 101st minute and a light blocked Klas Åberg hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 2-2. Pihl United were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
