The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Johan Sjöberg charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Johan Sjöberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 3 played minutes Segelbut IF U21 got a freekick which was hit by Johan Sjöberg. 5 minutes into the match, Segelbut IF U21's goal looked a bit too open when Kenny Forsberg came free, but Dag Harman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 7th match minute, Segelbut IF U21 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joachim Lilja to maneuver through the defense. In the 10th minute, Claes Stenman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dag Harman was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Degerfors IF's goalkeeper Pontus Lindström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kalle Stolpe. Johan Sjöberg hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Segelbut IF U21's Dag Harman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Forsberg in the 30th minute of play. Dag Harman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johannes Örtendahl in the 37th minute of play. Dag Harman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johannes Örtendahl, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Dag Harman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agne Widberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Johan Sjöberg kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match.

Pontus Lindström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kalle Stolpe went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. The supporters of Segelbut IF U21 booed when Degerfors IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dan Grönberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dag Harman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claes Stenman in the 57th minute of the match. Dag Harman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claes Stenman in the 61st minute of play. When Kalle Stolpe came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Segelbut IF U21 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kalle Stolpe couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claes Stenman in the 66th minute of play forced Segelbut IF U21's goalkeeper Dag Harman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Kenny Forsberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dag Harman was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Dag Harman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johannes Örtendahl in the 73rd minute of play. After 74 played minutes Segelbut IF U21 got a freekick which was hit by Boban Bobanović. Segelbut IF U21's Dag Harman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Segelbut IF U21 from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Degerfors IF's Johannes Örtendahl slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dag Harman. That made the score 1-5 after 94 minutes of play. Degerfors IF's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
