Rusty Little breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rusty Little showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Scott Souza in the 15th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Benito Hyde during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Benito Hyde kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. When Vince Potts came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the El Canalla de Chicago fans jumped to their feet. Roosevelt Guthrie made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Pedro Finn sent off a good shot on target. 41 minutes into the match, El Canalla de Chicago's goalkeeper Roosevelt Guthrie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Finn. Kent Carney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Santos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rusty Little should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Scott Souza struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Rusty Little didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Canalla de Chicago. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. El Canalla de Chicago had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
