Marco Varela recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dário Vilar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurício Peseiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dário Vilar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 23 minutes into the match, Sporting Tuga FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Fernandes came free, but Dário Vilar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Ramiro Fernandes made a precise shot to the right of Dário Vilar. Sporting Tuga FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 31st minute, Leonardo Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 34thth minute of the game Ramiro Fernandes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting Tuga FC's Dário Vilar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dário Vilar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Varela in the 40th minute of play. Maurício Peseiro scored 0-4 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dário Vilar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 45 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sporting Tuga FC! After the first half Minho FC were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vladimiro Meireles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 71st minute, Ramiro Fernandes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. João Vilas Boas was extremely unlucky when he, in the 74th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 78 played minutes Minho FC got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Barata. Sporting Tuga FC's Dário Vilar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Varela in the 82nd minute of play. The supporters of Minho FC booed when Sporting Tuga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albérico Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dário Vilar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ramiro Fernandes in the 89th minute. Xavier Lamego's late challenge caught a Sporting Tuga FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xavier Lamego helped the player get up and apologised. After 90 played minutes Minho FC got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Lamego. When Emanuel Barata was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 92 minutes had been played. When Albertino Oliveira fell near the penalty area in the 99th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Tuga FC's protests and gave Albertino Oliveira a yellow card for diving instead.
