In the 21stth minute of the game Egídio Trindade who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting Clube de Gaya's Paulo Mansilha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Reinaldo Quental received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Paulo Mansilha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Egídio Trindade took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Mansilha. Paulo Mansilha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 28th minute Egídio Trindade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Mansilha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the game, Sporting Clube Patrício's Egídio Trindade nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Mansilha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. In the 33rd match minute, Sporting Clube Patrício was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sálvio Sá to maneuver through the defense. Paulo Mansilha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo Quental in the 36th minute of play. Octávio Aleixo hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reinaldo Quental to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Reinaldo Quental kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Paulo Mansilha. That made the score 0-6 in the 53 minute of play. With an all-out effort, Sporting Clube Patrício's Paulo Mansilha threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Reinaldo Quental, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Sporting Clube Patrício booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Trindade in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Paulo Mansilha, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Viriato Leal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lisandro Branco in the 74th minute of the match. Paulo Mansilha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Madeira in the 76th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Madeira in the 79th minute of play forced Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper Paulo Mansilha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 81 played minutes Sporting Clube Patrício got a freekick which was hit by David Madeira. When Sálvio Sá fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Clube Patrício's protests and gave Sálvio Sá a yellow card for diving instead. Sporting Clube de Gaya made a substitution. Jacinto Quintanilha replaced Isidro Machado. After 85 played minutes Sporting Clube Patrício got a freekick which was hit by Sálvio Sá. A collision led to Sporting Clube Patrício getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Cristiano Garcia hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Aristides Veloso got a free kick in the 90th minute. When the match was over Sporting Clube Patrício could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sporting Clube de Gaya throughout the match.
