When Isidro Machado fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Clube de Gaya's protests and gave Isidro Machado a yellow card for diving instead. After 9 played minutes David Aveiro could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-0 into the left cross. David Aveiro was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. Terceirense F.C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 13th minute, Afonso Passos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baltasar Saraiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Paulo Mansilha made a huge save. Paulo Mansilha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Aveiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. António Coutinho hit a great ball. With a little luck, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Paulo Mansilha got control of the ball when Flávio Sacramento tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 26 played minutes Sporting Clube de Gaya got a freekick which was hit by Aristides Veloso. Normando Conde received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Paulo Mansilha came out and tried to block the shot, but Normando Conde slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 28th minute. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Paulo Mansilha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube de Gaya from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Aveiro in the 39th minute of play forced Sporting Clube de Gaya's goalkeeper Paulo Mansilha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Terceirense F.C.'s Normando Conde got a free kick in the 44th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell António Coutinho to make the kick off. Octávio Aleixo took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hamilton Gouveia. Hamilton Gouveia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 62nd minute, David Aveiro made a precise shot to the right of Paulo Mansilha. Sporting Clube de Gaya's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Hamilton Gouveia made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when António Coutinho sent off a good shot on target. Paulo Mansilha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Normando Conde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Mansilha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Egídio Bacelar, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Normando Conde received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Paulo Mansilha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Terceirense F.C. booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aristides Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tobias Guterres lost his temper 96 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Terceirense F.C. were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sporting Clube de Gaya for a fine match.
