The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Viriato Amaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvano Morais in the 17th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Silvano Morais had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Viriato Amaro. Benficajuvestars's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Silvano Morais was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Hamilton Poças made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simão França in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Óscar Soares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Viriato Amaro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 27th minute, one of Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.. The goalkeeper, Hamilton Poças, was totally fooled by Benficajuvestars's Dércio Leão, who 29 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Viriato Amaro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Óscar Soares in the 34th minute of the match. Hamilton Poças made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Paulo Antas sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Benficajuvestars defense, Óscar Soares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Viriato Amaro. The Benficajuvestars fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Viriato Amaro should have stopped the shot. Simão França sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Simão França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Paulo Antas made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Silvano Morais left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. António Pegado scored 2-4 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hamilton Poças, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by António Pegado in the 68th minute of play forced Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goalkeeper Hamilton Poças to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvano Morais took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Viriato Amaro. Viriato Amaro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-5. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Hamilton Poças played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão França in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute, Fernando Mascarenhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Óscar Soares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvano Morais got free with Viriato Amaro in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Isac Mota slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Viriato Amaro. That made the score 3-6 after 88 minutes of play. Silvano Morais struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Viriato Amaro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dércio Leão in the 96th minute of play forced Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goalkeeper Hamilton Poças to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Benficajuvestars fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
