Gabor Helfenstein started the match with the kick off. After some careless play in the Chancy Olympique defense, Karsten Eggers kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Remo Steingher. The Chancy Olympique fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Remo Steingher should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Martin Zinsli hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Lienhard DeGrasse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chris Lang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Davide Gubser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Martin Zinsli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sepp Gerig did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Remo Steingher 28 minutes into the match. Chancy Olympique were furious when Henrik Da Silva was red carded, 31 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Henrik Da Silva hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute of the match, Uli Bieri sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Remo Steingher showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. Remo Steingher came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Olympique Fribourg's Blaise Näf. But to his dismay, Blaise Näf quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 39 minutes into the game, one of Chancy Olympique:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Remo Steingher had in the 41stth minute some difficulties stopping Uli Bieri's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Uli Bieri had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Remo Steingher. Chancy Olympique's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Uli Bieri was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sepp Gerig in the 47th minute of play forced Chancy Olympique's goalkeeper Remo Steingher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Blaise Näf made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Chancy Olympique's goal looked a bit too open when Sepp Gerig came free, but Remo Steingher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Olympique Fribourg's Blaise Näf sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Remo Steingher narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Sepp Gerig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blaise Näf in the 59th minute of play forced Chancy Olympique's goalkeeper Remo Steingher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 63 played minutes Olympique Fribourg got a freekick which was hit by Karsten Eggers. Claude Zurbuchen struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Chris Lang didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chancy Olympique. Claude Zurbuchen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chris Lang having to make a save. Olympique Fribourg's Chris Lang proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Olympique Fribourg from getting a goal against them. Chancy Olympique's Remo Steingher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davide Gubser in the 75th minute of play. When Claude Zurbuchen fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chancy Olympique's protests and gave Claude Zurbuchen a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Chancy Olympique getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Claude Zurbuchen hit a great ball. Edgar Waltispühl kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Blaise Näf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 84th minute, Edgar Waltispühl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sepp Gerig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remo Steingher having to interfere. Olympique Fribourg's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
