The supporters of Sporting Angola booed when Rothwell Park was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ogembo Waithaka didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zablon Maish showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alão Preto, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Emirares Felício made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Sammy Kosgei sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Rothwell Park booed when Sporting Angola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Custódio Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Origi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sammy Kosgei stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alão Preto in the 56th minute of play forced Rothwell Park's goalkeeper Zablon Maish to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Sporting Angola's goal looked a bit too open when Talib Hassan came free, but Emirares Felício reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 75 played minutes Sporting Angola got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Pegacho. Kenneth Alfie struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Emirares Felício didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rothwell Park. 83 minutes into the match, Rothwell Park's goalkeeper Zablon Maish had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Galão. Alão Preto took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zablon Maish. Zablon Maish dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Zablon Maish made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Alão Preto sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd match minute, Sporting Angola was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector Bastos to maneuver through the defense. The Sporting Angola players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
