Boca Juniors's Carlos Quinito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eustaquio Herrera in the 44th minute of play. Teofilo Nuñez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Lop, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. In the 48th minute, Hernan Domingues ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Teofilo Nuñez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 54th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernan Domingues to maneuver through the defense. In the 60th minute, Modesto Bartoleme made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Quinito. Boca Juniors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Carlos Quinito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustaquio Herrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
