Sportivo Mela Banco's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fecha Libre the free kick. In the 15th match minute, Sportivo Mela Banco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Lain to maneuver through the defense. After 25 played minutes Fecha Libre got a freekick which was hit by Albano Betadur. Zeledon Orland scored 0-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aurelio Mikolas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Virgilio Fonso hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Sportivo Mela Banco defense, Zeledon Orland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aurelio Mikolas. The Sportivo Mela Banco fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aurelio Mikolas should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugenio Tome in the 39th minute of play forced Sportivo Mela Banco's goalkeeper Aurelio Mikolas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 41 minutes, Daniel Tartalo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fecha Libre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Tartalo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aurelio Mikolas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugenio Tome, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

A collision led to Sportivo Mela Banco getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Virgilio Fonso hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the game, Sportivo Mela Banco's Simon Isusko nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Franco Armanca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Aurelio Mikolas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Orland in the 67th minute of play. In the 70th match minute, Fecha Libre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benigno Rosalio to maneuver through the defense. Eugenio Tome could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Aurelio Mikolas made a huge save. After 74 minutes Sportivo Mela Banco's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zeledon Orland who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Zeledon Orland almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sportivo Mela Banco's Aurelio Mikolas did a great save. When Virgilio Fonso was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 76 minutes had been played. Virgilio Fonso hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Aurelio Mikolas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eugenio Tome's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. The supporters of Sportivo Mela Banco booed when Fecha Libre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Tartalo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 97th minute, Zeledon Orland made a precise shot to the right of Aurelio Mikolas. Sportivo Mela Banco's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Fecha Libre eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
